International ExperienceAlthough no longer fluent, Cindy studied German in college and was able to use it in her travels in Europe. Cindy and her family (husband, Dave and three children-now adults) hosted four different students from France through NACEL. From that experience, Cindy was invited to lead an adult hosting/teaching program for French nuclear power plant professionals. This proved to be one of the most rewarding experiences I have had. They came to improve their American English, view our customs and learn our idioms. For a period of seven years, these engineers, and sometimes their families, lived with us for a period of one to three weeks. I can say I learned as much or more from them as they did from us. The program I worked for was ISES, headquartered in Tours, France. It also allowed me to attend a French wedding and travels to several of the engineer's homes. Many years earlier, we lived in Germany when my husband was stationed there while in the army. We were fortunate to travel also to Switzerland, Austria and Italy. Because of these international experiences, I enrolled in international real estate courses to earn the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation. It has been my pleasure to work with clients from many countries.
